How to do Treadmill Walk

Setup

Step onto the treadmill with feet on the side rails, start the belt at a slow speed (1-2 mph), then carefully step onto the moving belt. Stand upright with arms relaxed at your sides or lightly resting on the handrails for balance only.

How to do it

  1. Walk with a natural stride, landing heel-to-toe with each step.
  2. Keep your shoulders back and core engaged throughout the walk.
  3. Look straight ahead rather than down at your feet or the console.
  4. Gradually increase speed as you warm up, maintaining control of your pace.
  5. Swing your arms naturally at your sides to maintain balance and rhythm.

Watch out for

  • Gripping the handrails tightly or leaning on them, which reduces workout effectiveness and creates poor posture.
  • Taking too short or choppy steps instead of using your natural walking stride.
  • Looking down constantly at the belt or your feet, causing neck strain and balance issues.
