Setup
Step onto the treadmill with feet on the side rails, start the belt at a slow speed (1-2 mph), then carefully step onto the moving belt. Stand upright with arms relaxed at your sides or lightly resting on the handrails for balance only.
How to do it
- Walk with a natural stride, landing heel-to-toe with each step.
- Keep your shoulders back and core engaged throughout the walk.
- Look straight ahead rather than down at your feet or the console.
- Gradually increase speed as you warm up, maintaining control of your pace.
- Swing your arms naturally at your sides to maintain balance and rhythm.
Watch out for
- ✗Gripping the handrails tightly or leaning on them, which reduces workout effectiveness and creates poor posture.
- ✗Taking too short or choppy steps instead of using your natural walking stride.
- ✗Looking down constantly at the belt or your feet, causing neck strain and balance issues.
