Setup
Step onto the treadmill and set an incline between 5-15% depending on your fitness level. Start with a walking speed of 2.5-3.5 mph while holding the handrails briefly for balance.
How to do it
- Keep your torso upright and avoid leaning forward into the incline
- Take shorter, quicker steps rather than overstriding up the incline
- Let go of the handrails once stable and swing your arms naturally
- Push through your entire foot with each step, engaging your glutes and hamstrings
- Maintain steady breathing and a consistent pace throughout
Watch out for
- ✗Holding onto the handrails constantly, which reduces calorie burn and muscle engagement
- ✗Leaning too far forward or backward instead of maintaining an upright posture
- ✗Setting the incline too high and having to hold on for support or compromise form
