Setup
Stand sideways to a low cable pulley with feet hip-width apart. Grasp the handle with your far hand across your body, arm hanging at your side with a slight bend in the elbow.
How to do it
- Lead with your elbow and raise your arm out to the side until it reaches shoulder height.
- Keep your wrist neutral and pinky slightly higher than your thumb throughout the movement.
- Control the descent back to the starting position without letting the weight stack crash.
- Maintain a stable torso without leaning away from the cable.
Watch out for
- ✗Shrugging the shoulder upward instead of keeping it down and back during the raise.
- ✗Using momentum by swinging the body or raising the arm too quickly.
- ✗Lifting the arm above shoulder height which shifts tension away from the side delt.
