Setup
Stand with feet hip-width apart, holding a dumbbell in each hand with palms facing your thighs. Let your arms hang straight down in front of your hips with a slight bend in your elbows.
How to do it
- Raise both dumbbells forward and up to shoulder height while keeping your arms nearly straight
- Lead the movement with your knuckles and maintain the same elbow angle throughout
- Control the dumbbells back down slowly to the starting position
- Keep your core tight and avoid leaning back as you lift
- Pause briefly at the top before lowering
Watch out for
- ✗Using momentum by swinging the weights up instead of lifting with controlled shoulder strength
- ✗Raising the dumbbells too high above shoulder level which shifts tension away from the front delts
- ✗Arching the lower back excessively to help move heavier weights
