Setup
Set the cable pulleys to their highest position and attach D-handles. Stand in the center with one foot forward for stability, grab both handles with palms facing down, and step forward slightly so the cables create tension with your arms extended out to your sides.
How to do it
- Keep a slight bend in your elbows and maintain that angle throughout the movement
- Bring your hands together in front of your chest in a wide arcing motion, like you're hugging a barrel
- Squeeze your chest hard when your hands meet in the middle
- Control the weight as your arms return to the starting position, stopping when you feel a stretch across your chest
- Keep your core tight and avoid leaning forward excessively
Watch out for
- ✗Bending the elbows too much during the movement, turning it into a pressing motion instead of a fly
- ✗Using momentum by rocking the torso back and forth rather than keeping it stable
- ✗Letting the arms drift too far back at the start, which can stress the shoulder joints
